a lesson from daddy

i fell in love with this picture the second i saw it. a member of the foxy croppers- an online scrapbooking group that i belong to- posted it one day for some reason or another and i saved it. for me it is just a visual that even in the most unlikely of circumstances, one can succeed. just to think how hard it must have been for those little stems to grow through all of those heavy rocks.... reminds me of something when i was little. my father- whom i no longer have any relationship with, used to walk with me and whenever he would see grass growing through the spaces of the concrete, he would make me stop and look. he would then tell me that "can't" is not a word. he would say that if a blade of grass could move concrete and grow though it, that there was no reason to ever believe i would fail.... despite our broken bond now, i am thankful that i had a daddy, as a young girl, that taught me how to be strong and beautiful. that taught me that ANYTHING is possible.
* proof that strong can be beautiful!*
